Laurie E. Harrington received her B.S. degree from the University of Vermont in 1997 and her Ph.D. in Immunology from Emory University in 2001. In late 2001, she moved to the University of Alabama at Birmingham for postdoctoral studies, and joined the faculty at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Department of Cell Biology, now Cell, Developmental and Integrative Biology, in 2007 where she has risen to the rank of Associate Professor with Tenure. Dr. Harrington’s research is focused on effector CD4 T cell differentiation and the role of these cells in autoimmunity. She is also committed to education, as she is co-director of the Immunology Ph.D. graduate program as well as associate director of an NIH training grant.
