Dr. Miranda has been involved in clinical and translational research in the field of neuroimmunology, especially aiming to address potential inflammatory biomarkers for human neuropsychiatric disorders, with a main focus in traumatic brain injury (TBI). In February 2016, Dr. Miranda joined the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Belo Horizonte, Brazil, as faculty at the Department of Cellular Biology/Morphological Sciences, working on TBI. She is currently the leader of the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) research group entitled “Minas Gerais Group for the Study of TBI”. As example of her recent accomplishments, she has been funded by the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation since 2016 when she got the NARSAD Young Investigator Award. In 2019, she received another prestigious award called “Women in Science” by L’Oreal Brazil-UNESCO-Brazilian Academy of Science (ABC). Of note, all of these awards were associated with projects in the TBI field.
